Exam Centers

Before we explain the role of an exam center we take the opportunity to point our a crucial information about our service.

If you want to acquire a certificate from MOLLYMAWK psychometrics you need two items:

  1. a Test Package and

  2. an Exam Slot.

It is important to understand that a test package does not include an exam slot, and an exam slot does not include a test package.

1) Test Packages

Some airline operators sponsor test packages to their candidates, that means you can get your test package from them. Alternatively, purchase your test package directly from MOLLYMAWK psychometrics here.

2) Exam Slots

2a) at an airline-internal exam center

Some airlines run facilities that we have checked and certified as MOLLYMAWK exam centers. Staff that is assigned as test administrators undergo an equally thorough certification process. These airline-internal exam centers are reserved for test takers who are accepted as candidates of those airlines. If you are not registered as their candidate do not expect them to offer you an exam slot. Whether or not these exam centers provide exam slots at their facilities for free or for sale is up to them, we from MOLLYMAWK psychometrics do not interfere in this decision.

2b) at a public exam center

Unlike airline-internal exam centers public exam centers offer exam slots to anybody. Running a public exam center is an element of that company's service portfolio. They invest into a suitable room, hardware, staff. We check and certify their facility, train and certify their staff. Other than that they operate independently. This means we do not earn anything from their exam slots, we do not influence their pricing policy and we have no influence on their scheduling or reservation systems. Vice versa, they do not get any share of test packages that we or any other company sell to test takers.

Why become an exam center?

An organisation might want to run a MOLLYMAWK psychometrics exam center typically for one of the following two reasons:

a) They provide MOLLYMAWK test packages to their own candidates and want to help these candidates with an exam slot. Usually such an organisation will not offer or sell exam slots to other test takers besides their own candidates. Typical example: airline operator. We call this an airline-internal exam center.

b) They own a computer classroom with some free capacity. Selling exam slots as a public exam center can be the ideal way to generate additional revenue. Typical examples: IT training provider, aviation-related consulting business, language school. Contact us if you are curious about this option!

We will visit you, inspect your facilities, support the set up of your computers and train your staff to serve as test administrator(s).

Hardware requirements

  • Screen size with 13 - 17 inches in diameter.

  • Standard keyboard with designated numeric keypad.

  • Standard mouse with scroll wheel, mouse pad.

  • Headphones with good around-ear insulation and integrated volume control. No microphone.

  • Input and output devices keyboard, mouse and headphones must be cable-based, not Bluetooth in order not to run into issues with low battery power and/or latency effects.

  • Ask us before you buy anything new!

Internet connection

  • MOLLYMAWK psychometrics as a web-based platform needs a stable connection to the internet for every terminal.

  • The connection should not be gone for more than a few seconds, even though little hiccups (e.g. smaller bandwidth, delayed or lost packages) are fine and taken care of by the Software.

  • We recommend an Ethernet connection of the terminals.

  • A Wi-Fi connection of the terminals is possible if the Wi-Fi router itself has a wired broadband internet connection and is situated not more than 10 meters away from the furthermost terminal, without any major obstructions (walls, etc.).

General and software requirements

  • Desks for test takers must be arranged such that test admin sits behind them with view on all screens and quick, direct access to each desk. Ask us for examples of ideal layouts.

  • We recommend to limit the number of simultaneous exams to 10 (minimum 1 station as a back up, see below).

  • In every session minimum one station must be kept free as an immediately available back up in case of technical problems that cannot be solved immediately.

  • The station(s) serving as back up should vary from session to session to make sure all stations are updated, well maintained, operational, and immediately available for a smooth continuation of exams.

  • Windows 10 or 11.

  • Updates must be scheduled for times outside test sessions, e.g. in the evening.

  • Computer(s) must be well maintained (Windows updates). Anti virus protection via Windows.

  • Test sessions run on their own, password protected windows account to make sure the browser settings will not be changed between test sessions. This account does not need administrator privileges, can be a local user account.

  • If interruptions in electrical power supply are probable then computers and screens must be protected against such events.

  • Scratch paper for skills tests must be provided in a controlled fashion: 1 piece of paper (Din A 4) during the Maths & Science test (collected afterwards), and one piece of paper during the Aeronautics test (collected afterwards).

  • Room must be adjustable to comfortable conditions; window(s) must have shades to exclude reflections on the screen if necessary; access to drinking water and bathrooms must be convenient.

  • Structural and organisational measures must be taken to exclude the disturbance by sudden or permanent loud noise like conversations, telephone calls, loudspeaker announcements (except in cases of emergency), vacuum cleaners, construction sites, road traffic etc, even if the source of noise is not located in the exam room itself.

  • Structural and organisational measures must be taken to exclude the disturbance by third party's conversations or discussions audible in the exam room, even if the source of distraction is not located in the exam room itself.

  • During MOLLYMAWK exams admission to the room must be restricted to test-takers and test administrators to ensure minimum disturbance.

MOLLYMAWK Test Administrator

Trustworthy persons serve as MOLLYMAWK test administrators. No specific hardware or software skills are necessary for this position thanks to an easy to comprehend and intuitive backend and frontend and usually well-prepared test-takers. But basic computer skills and an eagerness to familiarize oneself with a new software are indispensable requirements.

A test administrator's duties are:

  • Log into the exam environment.

  • Verify each test taker's identity by comparing the entry in the MOLLYMAWK database with an official piece of identification (either passport, national ID, or driver's licence).

  • Ensure fair testing conditions, support test takers in case of technical problems and prevent attempts of fraud.
